TRIATHLON EVENT RULES
Triathlon Rules
- “If
you are a first time racer we suggest you bring the following gear:
Swim Suite, Towel after you get out of water to dry your self off and get the
dirt off you feet, dry socks, dry shoes, T-shirt to wear biking and
running that you can pre-attach your race number to before you start the
race.”
- Race
time is considered the running time from the start of the participant’s
swimming wave until completion of all portions of the event. (Clock will
not stop between events).
- The
race starts at Deephaven Beach and ends at Thorpe Park so if you drive, we
suggest you park your car between the park and the lake and ride your bike
down to the city beach and place your bike in the designated bike corral
located west of the tennis courts.
- Please plan to get to the city beach with
all your stuff before 9:30 so you can check in, pick up your race number,
get your bike set and listen to pre race instructions.
- Late
registration begins at 9:00 A.M. at the Main Beach Gazebo.
- Race
begins at 10:00 A.M. rain or shine at the south end of Deephaven Beach.
- All
participants must have assigned race number written on left arm.
- Race
bibs must be pinned on shirts for the biking and running portions of the
race.
- Shirts/shorts/towel
and running shoes are left with the participant’s bike.
- Bike
helmets are required for all participants.
- Participants
will enter the water in waves, based on age and gender.

1 - Elites (both genders)
- Wave
2 - Both men and women 8-11
years old and accompanying Adults
- Wave
3 - Men 12-14 years old
- Wave
4 - Women 12-14 years old
- Wave
5 - Men 15-19
- Wave
6 - Women 15 – 19
- Wave
7 - Men 20 – 29
- Wave
8 - Women 20 – 29

9 - Men 30 – 39
- Wave
10- Women 30-39

11- Men 40-49

- Each
wave is started at 2 minute intervals by the mayor and the police chief.
- Swimmers
swim around designated buoys (marked by patrol boats)
- Swimmers
boarding the patrol boats are disqualified from continuing.
