  • Zebra Mussels in Lake Minnetonka - Attention Boat Owners and Lakeshore Residents
Since the discovery of zebra mussels in Lake Minnetonka in July 2010, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD), Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), local partners, and other agencies have been studying the distribution of zebra mussels in Lake Minnetonka.

As you prepare for winter, help us by participating in the DNR's zebra mussel monitoring program. Please check for zebra mussels when removing your boats, jet skis, water toys, docks, boat lifts, pumps and other equipment.  You can report your zebra mussel findings online:

Ice out is called when the commander can take a boat from Water Patrol Headquarters in Spring Park, through the Narrows and around Big Island without having to significantly alter course to avoid ice.
