  • 2-7-2012 - Crime Update - Suspect Apprehended

Concerned Residents:

I am pleased to inform you that the Burglary Suspect was apprehended yesterday (2/6/12).

This was a Multi-Jurisdictional effort that led to the suspect being arrested after days of surveillance. Several agencies were involved with the arrest. The Suspect confessed to the Burglaries in Greenwood and the Burglary in Deephaven. A Search Warrant was obtained and the suspects residence was searched. Several items stolen from the burglaries were recovered.

At this point the suspect is being held at Hennepin County Jail. He has not been formally charged, therefore I cannot release his name. He should be charged by noon Wednesday. The property recovered will be inventoried as soon as possible. The suspect admitted to many burglaries in several different cities, so releasing the property may take some time.

Special thanks goes out to all of the Officers working this case. This is an excellent example of how well we can work together.

I commend Officer Westgard for taking the lead for our department. Officer Westgard worked on his days off to assist in the apprehension of this suspect.

Please contact myself or Officer Westgard if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Cory Johnson

Chief of Police
Deephaven Police Department

  • 2/1/2012, Crime Alert ! There was a recent TV News report regarding the burglaries in our area. There was 1 burglary in Deephaven, we have not had multiple burglaries like our neighbors.
  • We are working hard to solve the Burglary that occurred on 1/18/12. We are working with our neighboring agencies who have also had burglaries. We believe the burglaries are connected. As stated before... Please look after your neighbors and your own property. Report anything suspicious. I.E. Anyone walking around houses, vehicles parked in the street that do not belong, vehicles driving up and down the road. Keep your doors locked and use your house alarm. Please do not hesitate to dial 911 for anything. We are here for you, and we are here 24/7. There is always a Police Officer on-duty!
  • On 1/18/12, at 2:00 pm The Deephaven Police Department was called to a residential Burglary. The Burglary Occurred on Andover Place. The homeowner left the house at 10:00 am and returned around 2:00 pm. to find the overhead garage door open. She pulled into the garage and noticed the garage service door had been forced open. She walked into the home and noticed drawers open and items strewn about.... The homeowner is missing Jewelry and a laptop computer.

A neighboring agency received an Attempted Burglary report shortly after our reported Burglary. At this time we believe the Burglaries may be connected. A K-9 was called in and made a track from the neighboring Cities Burglary to the area of the Burglary in Deephaven.

The Police Department is actively working on this case. We are working with several other Police agencies as well.

WE ARE ASKING ALL OF OUR RESIDENTS TO KEEP ALL DOORS LOCKED, WHETHER HOME OR NOT,AND USE THE HOUSE ALARM IF APPLICABLE. IF YOU ARE GOING OUT OF TOWN, PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS HOUSE CHECK PROGRAM. NOTIFY YOUR NEIGHBORS AS WELL. AS ALWAYS PLEASE CALL 911 IF YOU SEE ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS IN OUR CITY.
