Dear Deephaven Resident:
In cooperation with the City of Deephaven, Waste Management is excited to announce that Single Sort Recycling will soon be available to all residents in Deephaven. We are pleased the trial-period performed this past spring with several homeowners has been deemed a success.
We are looking forward to bring Single Sort Recycling to you. Here is how it works.
- You will receive a mid sized, 64-gallon heavy duty green cart with a hinged yellow lid and wheels during the week of July 18, 2005. (See enclosed brochure.)
- Start using your cart as soon as you receive it. Place all your recyclable containers, paper, and loose cardboard directly into the cart. All recyclables can be mixed together in your cart. USE THE RECYCLE CART IN PLACE OF YOUR PRESENT RECYCLING BIN.
- The
first pick up with single sort recycling will be during the week of August
1st. Recycling will be collected every-other-week on the
regular collection day. Please be
sure to place your cart at the curb by 7:00am on your service day and
remove promptly after pick-up has been done.
Your recycling is Gold Week on the calendar.
- We find that the 64-gallon cart is adequate for most homes. Please try the cart for 90 days. If you find that it is too small or too large at that time please contact us to exchange your cart.
- What can I do with my old recycling bin? You have two options. You may use the bin as you wish around your home for storage or other purposes. If you do not want your recycle bin please contact us and we will schedule to pick your bin up.
Why is Waste Management offering this program to you?
- Single Sort makes recycling EASY. All your recyclables go in one cart.
- Single Sort is CLEANER. Your new recycling cart has a lid and litter in your neighborhood will be greatly reduced.
- Single Sort is SAFER. The wheeled-cart is safer to handle for you and us.
- Single Sort INCREASES PARTICIPATION. When recycling is easy you are able to recycle more. Recycling decreases the amount of waste we throw away.
There may be items you are currently placing in the trash that can be recycled through our Single Sort program. Plastic bottles with a neck and boxboard from cereal, chip, cake, and cracker boxes can now be recycled. Please take a few minutes to review the list of recyclable items for items you may be able to place in your Single Sort cart.
